Recently, I had the honor of meeting in person one of the Spanish composers with great international projection. He was kind enough to come to the teaching center where I teach Musical Analysis and History of Music and Dance, to introduce my students to the creative work of the film musician.
Víctor Reyes is an integral musician who knows the profession from the bottom up. In his first professional stage he has worked as arranger and keyboardist for a great number of artists of the national and international scene (Julio Iglesias, Jose Luis Perales, Jose Mª Cano). His long career has even led him to record at the legendary Abbey Road studios.
As a good craftsman and connoisseur of the trade, he has accepted works of very varied calibers; from TV series and mini-series, docudramas, to the latest productions of the director Rodrigo Cortés (Buried, Luces Rojas). He himself produces, orchestrates, performs and programs sequences for his soundtracks.
He has been nominated four times for the Goya Awards for Best Original Score (“En la ciudad sin límites”, “Buried”) and Best Original Song (“Circus honey blues”, “In the lap of the mountain”), as well as for the International Film Music Critics association (IFMCS).
